American healthcare is broken. Medical debt is the leading cause of personal bankruptcy. As a physician of 35 years, practicing in Greenville and Eastern North Carolina, I am fed up with inaction in Washington in stopping the egregious practice of insurance companies. If someone works hard at their job, they deserve to have health insurance they can rely on. Unfortunately, that is not the case for far too many individuals and families in our country.
Health insurance companies are raking in record profits off the backs of patients and those who provide care. As a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee, I am working tirelessly to advance meaningful solutions to put patients and their doctors back in the driver’s seat over monopolies in the healthcare industry. I am fighting to take on the most powerful lobby in Washington for you and will not stop until we have a system that puts patients above profits and stops the ridiculous obstructionism by the insurance industry.
